Kurwongbah was honoured to receive the inaugural School Library Association of Queensland Brian Bahnisch Award in July 2004.  The award was presented to Kurwongbah Teacher-Librarian Denise Tarlinton at the SLAQ 2004 Conference "Flagging the Future". In 2005, during State Education Week celebrations, Kurwongbah hosted the Murrumba District Showcase event.  Kurwongbah was one of the many schools to participate by showcasing our Whole School Thinking Skills Program.
