2003 was the inaugural year for our Quality Teaching Conference. This conference, organised with a view to develop professional partnerships between schools and to showcase curriculum initiatives and practical teaching strategies, offered a range of professional development options presented by teachers for teachers. It was a day of professional development and productive partnerships.
The Quality Teaching Conference had a strong emphasis on Higher-order thinking strategies across a number of Key Learning Areas. Teachers from Kurwongbah State School, Hercules Road State School and Mount Samson State School participated in the one day conference with presenters from Kurwongbah and Hurcules Road leading over 20 workshop presentations. Our Key Note Speaker Toni Banfield from Brisbane Boys' College led the day with a dynamic presentation on differentiating the curriculum. Our special guest Felicity Bezer led a number of practical workshops that showed delegates how to use Bloom's Revised Taxonomy in the classroom in meaningful ways.
